London, UK – The 11th Annual Word Tamil Badminton Tournament (WTBT) held over two days on April 4th and 5th at the prestigious University of East London Sports Hall concluded with a record breaking number of participants compared to previous WTBT European tournaments.  This magnificent success is evidence of the meticulous work of the 2026  WTBT London Tournament Committee supported by the ongoing guidance leadership by the World Tamil Badminton Federation’s (WTBF) Central Committee.  

Participants described the competition as the premier sports gathering that Tamils globally look forward to annually, training year-round to showcase and unleash their “power play” in hopes of taking home the coveted WTBF Country Cup. 

A tournament that started with less than 50 players at its debut in the 2014 Swiss event, now has evolved into a global phenomenon, reaching thousands of Tamils all around the world! The representation of players in the 2026 tournament saw athletes all the way from Australia, Sri Lanka, and Canada, to as close as France, Germany and Switzerland among others.  

The event also garnered tremendous support from London’s local Tamil businesses who believed in WTBF’s vision of community growth and development.  The steadfast backing by this year’s sponsors goes without mention:
